When I create a new ASP.NET project in Visual Studio 2010, it creates the scripts directory, like it should, however the version of JQuery it sticks under the scripts directory is an old version of JQuery. Version 1.36 I believe. How can I update this so that Visual Studio 2010 will include the newest version of jquery? I know I can remove it and manually add it, but I don't want to have to do this everytime I create a new project.

(obviously, adjusting the path to your local PC if needed, and there is a separate folder for VB there as well)
Every .zip file is a project template. Update as needed.

I am trying to create a new .NET website in Visual Studio 2010, but when I go to create a new web site (File>New>Web Site...) I am left with no options to select. Am I missing something? I've searched all around and can't find any way to download templates.
Looks like Templates are not installed in your system.
Close all instance of Visual Studio. Open visual studio command prompt and type,
devenv/installvstemplates
Press Enter. Wait for the process to complete and the open Visual Studio.
You will get all missing templates under Visual Studio installed templates.
I am given an old Visual Studio 2010 ASP.NET MVC project to fix some defects. Is there any way I can continue it in VS 2013? I opened the project in VS 2013 once but didn't change anything. But now when I try to open it from VS 2010 again, it says that my project is incompatible with the Visual Studio version. How can I recover it?
After whole two days I found a way to fix this. When the folder is opened as a website in VS 2010 and closed, incompatible or not, a .sln file (Microsoft Visual Studio Solution file) will be saved in a new folder in C:\Users\username\Documents\Visual Studio 2010\Projects. I added the line TargetFrameworkMoniker = ".NETFramework,Version%3Dv4.0" under the line ProjectSection(WebsiteProperties) = preProject. When I tried to open the website folder again, it loaded without any issue.
I have installed “Web Essentials 2013 nightly”. I am using it to bundle JavaScript files.
Every time I compile my project in Visual Studio the js.bundle file get focused in Solution Explorer and file is opened in code editor.
How to turn it off?

This problem appears to have been fixed with the latest build of Web Essentials.
We recently started using Visual Studio 2012. We are also using third party ASP.NET controls from DevExpress. We are also using Team Foundation Server 2012.
For simplicity let's say the folder structure looks something like this:
C:\Tfs\Main\Components
C:\Tfs\Main\WebSite
In the past, when we added a reference to a third party DLL, the procedure was:
Add the actual DLLs to the /Components folder
Add *.dll.refresh files to the /WebSite/bin folder
I am trying to do that in Visual Studio 2012, however ...
Each time I select 'Add Reference' and Browse (I am actually browsing to the DLL file ... not selecting another Project) to the /Components folders -
(1) The DevExpress components appear to be added as GAC type references
(2) The DLLs are not copied to the /bin folder
(3) No .dll.refresh files are being created
The problem is ... when I check-in and another Developer does a 'get latest', if he doesn't have DevExpress installed then this will cause a problem.
So what am I missing?
Why won't Visual Studio 2012 create the .dll.refresh files in the /bin folder for me?

Make your dll's solution items and reference them from there.
