I have installed recently QT5 along with QT Creator 2.7.0 in my Ubuntu16 machine.
From the first moment I started to use QT Creator I noticed this problem, I can see correctly the menu bar with all the voices "File,Edit,Build,Debug,Analyze,Tools,Window,Help", my problem is that whenever I click on one of these menus the drop down menu is completely blank and doesn't display the all the options in it.
I am wondering if someone already had the same issue as me and what was the solution in your case.
Many thanks in advance to all for the help.
Attached an image that shows the problem described.
Please consider to upgrade to a more recent version. Qt Creator is at version 4.1 right now and 4.2 is close.
resolved installing from apt qtcreator (version 3.5.2) and qt5-default.

I have a program that I need to edit that was developed with Qt version 5.0.1. Will the program still work correctly if I just grab the newest version and edit the program with that? Or am I better off getting the old version from the Qt archive?
Qt 5 is not 100% compatible with previous versions, so probably you will have to make some migration stuff. This little transition guide is your friend!
I have application created using QT 5.0.2. When launch the video window, blank screen is observed. I am using win8 64-bit OS(also VLC). There is no issue with QT4 in win7 32-bit. Video streaming is perfect. Using qt webit/webpage classes
Is there any way to check: whether plug-in(mainly to view the video frames) is enabled or not in qt web-kit browser ?

I am new to Qt. What I understand is Qt is porting webview from webkit. [Correct me if i am wrong]. and I could not able to find which version of the webkit is ported into Qt 5.0 or higher version.
Kindly suggest me how to find?
It's running on WebKit2, which specific version is a bit more tricky to find out, but you should be able to look through the Qt repository on gitorious to determine it. If I remember rightly it changes depending on how you've built Qt5 and where from.
Seems to be a 3-4 months old snapshot, see the git repo for the included commits.
I'm using Qt Creator for several months now and from time to time, I get a problem dragging widgets like buttons, line edits and so from the toolbox to the window.
I try by removing the layouts but still get the same issue.
I use Qt Creator 2.4.0 on OS X 10.7.2
Thanks for helping
I fixed this problem by upgrading Qt Creator to version 2.4.1 on OS X
The solution described above by #spyke might also be helpful for Windows users.
It case there is a dead link, the solution for Windows says :
I was using Qt Designer for Qt Jambi built with Qt 4.6.4 on Windows 7 ×64 when this problem occurred. After a while I realized that the problem was not only in Qt designer, but in Windows in general: Explorer, FileZilla and more.
The solution was then found by searching for general Windows 7 drag and drop problems [answers.microsoft.com].
In short: Select a file in Windows Explorer with click and hold left mouse button. While holding the button down, hit the Esc key. Then drag and drop starts working again.
Qt was messing up on Windows so I deleted it and re installed it with the qt libraries and Qt Creator. Now, whenever I try to open my old project, I get the error that "Qmake is does not exist or is not executable", and none of the Qt headers can be located.
Assuming you're using a recent version of Qt, such as version 4.7.4, and a recent version of Qt Creator, such as the branch 2.3 .*.
Probably somewhere in this process, Qt Creator or the settings for this specific project lost the reference to Qt install.
We first need to find out if Qt Creator knows where Qt is installed. Go to Tools > Options.... Then click in Qt4. Here will show all installed and detected Qt versions.
As you can see, I have one Qt version installed (4.7.4), which was automatically detected.
If you do not have any installed version, you need to indicate a one manually. Simply click Add and point it to the right qmake.exe. Use the paths of the figure as reference. If you are developing a windows/mingw application, just need to add the qmake.exe associated with mingw (c:\qtsdk\desktop\qt\4.7.4\mingw\bin\qmake.exe on my computer) and remember the Version name, we'll need that in next step.
After that, open the project and click on Projects in the lateral bar. You need to Substitute the Qt version. Click on Manage next to it and select the correct version. This should resolve the problem.
Any trouble just comment. Sorry about the creepy english.
