In the past days I switched my menu to mobile friendly version. Is nearly done so far, only one issue remains: In the desktop version I've positioned the submenus absolutely so that they cover what is below when made visible. However, in the mobile version I would like to have them in regular textflow, so that what is below slides down when I make them visible. I'm using mediaqueries and have tried to set the position attribute to "static" but this didn't work:
#Navigation li ul {
position: static;
display: none;
}
My test page: http://ulrichbangert.de/indexr3.php (Resize the viewport to a small width until the menu has one column.) I've used this tutorial: http://www.menucool.com/ddmenu/create-mobile-friendly-responsive-menu.aspx where it works just as I want it to. However I cannot use this one-by-one as I wanted to keep the layout of my existing menu. Best regards - Ulrich
In the meantime I was able to solve this problem on my own: Apparently some CSS attributes cannot be changed when they are in a nested list and not on top level. In this case the attribute position. Afterwards I had the same problem with the attribute width which I could not change to 100% and the attribute padding-left which I could not change either. And some years ago when I implemented the initial version of this menu with the attribute height, which I could not change to auto on hover after setting it to 0 initially. Only setting to a fixed height worked.
How can this be? Is it intended or is it a bug in the browsers implementation? (I tested with firefox).
Anyway my menu works fine now, just as I figured it.

How can I change the value of the z-index for the icons in the toolbar menu of React Apexchart.
No matter how high I place my element they are always above it.
Little bit too late but make sure to add the z-index property (z-index:12 should be enough) to the parent (or the higher parent) of the element you want to display above the apexchart toolbar. I've tried every parent of my element until it worked with a div !
Somewhat late, but still an issue. Not sure why but the z-index of the apexcharts-toolbar is 11 by default, so just put this somewhere in your css:
.apexcharts-toolbar {
z-index: 0 !important;
}
This might screw up things in certain arrangements of chart displays but so far it has work pretty decent for me.
I have a horizontal navigation menu that breaks upon browser window resize as illustrated here:
https://jsfiddle.net/7oLjwh90/2/
Now the culprit here is:
#adminNav ul li { float: left;
But as soon as i remove float and do display: inline-block for example the dropdown stop working. It becomes a pure mess.
Tried setting display to inline-block and also recreated a new simple horizontal menu and that behaves as expected but cant get this dropdown to work without float.
https://jsfiddle.net/7oLjwh90/2/
Same menu as on https://jsfiddle.net/7oLjwh90/2/ but it doesnt break upon browser window resize. The list items should not stack on top of each other.
Not sure what exactly you wish to achieve. If removing the float property is your problem, you can try using flexbox(here is some good information on the matter -https://www.w3schools.com/css/css3_flexbox.asp). If this doesn't work for you, specify your question further. Hope this is useful.
Recently I am working on a new website and I am creating it with bootstrap. Here is the bootply link that have my website.
http://www.bootply.com/9pUX4JwEYb
According to that HTML in this Link, I have a trouble that i cant fix yet. When I am scrolling up, the text "Main Bodysssss..." is going over the navigation bar. I have tried to position it but no help. Just tell me how to fix this. Many Thanks.
A higher z-index for .navbar should fix this (working example):
.navbar {
z-index: 10;
}
From the documentation,
When elements overlap, z-order determines which one covers the other.
An element with a larger z-index generally covers an element with a
lower one.
I have a fb like button on my website but when a user clicks on the button the the pop up comments box is hidden behind the two elements (#centre and footer) and the user can do nothing with it.
My question is, How do I change the z-index of the flyout so when a user clicks the like button it appears in front of other elements?
I have looked at these questions and implemented their answers with no luck in fixing the issue:-
facebook iframe App: Send/Like button z-index issue
Other fixes I have found that did not work were:-
Elements that appear in front of/around the flyout should have overflow: visible; set. (From fb developers FaQ page.)
Changing the z-index of the classes that are listed in the answer from the link above.
Changing the width and z-index of a class generated by the iframe, and located in a script tag, called _56z-
All I would like is the flyout to appear on top of all elements on the page without having to change the layout.

Thank you for your time and help.
Change the z-index for your #centre and #footer div's to negative values. This should fix the problem.
Don't forget to change all of the other elements in relation to your site. You will be moving the #centre div to at least to z-index: -2 (to allow room for the #footer div to fit in at -1).
The following code fixes the problem entirely, without having to change the overflow or z-index of anything. You simply add the code below, and voila. HOWEVER, it will throw off your site's layout a little (it will flow over .. ha). Amazing fix, small catch. Borderline acceptable but the best solution I found. (Found it on the WP forums).
.fb-like span {
overflow: visible !important;
width: 450px !important;
margin-right: -375px;
}
I added
.fb-like span {
z-index: 999999999999999;
}
to my css and that fixed it. It isn't even marked as active, and deactivating it in developer tools doesn't change anything either. If I take it out of my CSS things go all stupid again though.
Ok, I'm stumped!
If anyone has a suggestion or two on a CSS / JavaScript fix for an IE7 z-index issue on this page without changing the DOM structure much (it's set up for easy tab usage) I'd be incredibly happy to try it out.
On this page, IE7 renders the bar that spans 100% of the width of the page above everything else, while I actually need to cram it very specifically between the text and the hero image (as seen when viewed on any modern browser).
Here's the link.
Thanks.
IE7 has known bugs with z-index, see: IE7 Z-Index issue - Context Menu
In this specific instance, you can fix it by changing a few parts of your CSS. Complete each step and check the progress as you go:
On #container remove position:relative .
The z-index issue is now fixed, but everything is in the wrong position!
On #thumbnails and .pane_img remove these properties: position, top, left, z-index.
On .pane_content, set left:50%; margin-left:-480px; bottom:90px.
On #learn_more_btn and .renova_logo, repeat the left: 50%; margin-left: ??px method to place the elements back where they should be.
